Mumbai barely had time to turn the calendar to March before summer arrived with a jolt. On Wednesday, the city sweltered as the IMD’s Santacruz observatory logged a maximum temperature of 38.7°C, the highest recorded in the city this year so far—and a sharp 5.7°C above normal.
